Site Blog & System Updates

Minor Updates - 2018-11-12

I've been pretty quite over the last few years. After doing routine site updates tonight, I decided to send out this quick post.

I've been thinking for a while that I need to revamp the site and make it mobile friendly, but in all honesty, I don't have the time like I used to. Hopefully I can get around to it, but for now, it's going to remain as a desktop only site. I have no plans to shut the site down or anything, but I also don't have any plans to enhance it anytime soon either.

Site Update

Been a while since the last blog, but we performed some pretty significant updates on the backend that might cause things to break. If you run into any trouble, let us know on our support form

Sell Your Used Paint Equipment at Buy My Paint!

We have opened up a sister website called Buy My Paint (buymypaint.com) which is also a classified website for selling used paint equipment. The biggest difference between the two sites, is that Buy My Asphalt is geared toward a very specific industry whereas Buy My Paint is open for all industries who use paint equipment. This will definitely include Parking Lot and Pavement Line Stripers and we highly encourage that you post that type of equipment over there as well to get more exposure.

Site Upgraded

Well, if you come here somewhat frequently, you've probably noticed that the entire website has had a makeover, from the way things look to the way you post a listing on the site. We spent the better half of a week upgrading the backend of our system and during that process, we did some weeding... Pretty much all accounts that have not been accessed in more than a year, were removed and any post on the site that have not been live within (roughly) the last year, those were removed too. (We figured you probably sold the equipment by now)

System Updates and Multiple Image Upload

I performed routine system updates today on the site. From what I can tell, everything should be working fine, but if you notice anything out of place, be sure to let me know.

I also finally enabled the ability site-wide, to upload more than one picture at a time. It requires the Adobe Flash player which most folks should have. Other than that, no big news!

Image Grid Fixed!!

Finally! The Image Grid block over on the left side of the page is finally fixed! It now takes you to the post of the image like it's supposed to! : ) For the longest time, it would just refresh the homepage and show an "a" if you put the mouse over an image... Now, if you click on an image, it takes you to the post that is tied to that image!

System Updates

Well, after a long amount of time, I've finally had a chance to go in and do some pretty major backend updates to the site. While you won't notice much of anything being different, you will find that you can FINALLY unpublish more than one post at a time! That's been fixed : )

For those of you who have the "special" permissions of uploading more than one image at a time, I plan to roll out a "different" method that should play a lot nicer than the existing multi-image upload system... *crosses fingers*

Updates & Stuff...

I did some backend updates (again) nothing really to report on the front end of things other than increasing the number of images you can upload from 6 to 9 : )

There is one thing that isn't working (at all) that needs fixed but won't be fixed until later which is the ability to "unpublish" a post using the bulk method. You can publish them or delete them, but you can't unpublish them... However, you CAN still go into each individual post and unpublish them... (I guess one-at-a-time is better than not at all!!)

New Post Administration Options and a New Category: Light Equipment

Well, I decided to get busy tonight and update the administration area of the "My Posts" in the account area. Basically, instead of editing a post to unpublish / publish it, you can do it all from the "My Posts" tab, along with Deleting posts! This should (hopefully) make things a bit easier for those of you who have a lot of posts to keep track of... (This applies to logged in accounts only)

Viewing Other People's Posts

I turned on the ability to view the posts of other folks on the site... I don't like the way it is laid out but at least it works for the moment... Basically, when you look at the user profile of someone else, (click on the link for their username) you will be presented with the following tabs: "view", "my posts", "posts", "contact". Even though you are looking at someone else's account, you can still see your own posts by clicking "my posts".

(This is assuming you are logged into an account... If you are not logged in, you will only see the "view" & "posts" tabs.)
